A Bit o\u2019 Bio<\/strong> ~ Nashville, TN: Jon Byrd plays \u201cwhat they used to call Country Music.\u201d Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he grew up in the piney woods of south Alabama before becoming pivotal in Atlanta\u2019s storied Redneck Underground music scene of the 90s. He was always a featured sideman, but his first solo recording (Byrd\u2019s Auto Parts<\/em> 2007) didn\u2019t happen until after he moved to Music City over 20 years ago. Since then he\u2019s recorded 3 other full-length solo records: Down at the Well of Wishes<\/em> (2011), Route 41<\/em> (2014), and Dirty Ol\u2019 River<\/em> (2017), and a 5-song EP Me & Paul <\/em>(2022). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was a featured vocalist on the Red Beet Records Grammy-nominated I Love: Tom T. Hall\u2019s Songs of Fox Hollow<\/em> alongside Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, Bobby Bare, and Tom T. himself! Jon\u2019s albums have been lauded by Mojo Magazine<\/strong>, Maverick<\/strong> Magazine <\/strong>and NPR<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a summer of national radio exposure via Thacker Mountain Radio <\/strong>out of Oxford, MS and NPR\u2019S Mountain Stage Radio <\/strong>from Charleston, WV, a NEW FULL-LENGTH RECORDING: ALL YOUR MISTAKES<\/em>will be released this fall on Longleaf Pine Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had the great good fortune to be a part of a film class at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film\u200b here in Nashville that took one of the songs from ROUTE 41<\/em> \u2014 Adam Wright’s “Would You Like to Dance” \u2014 and produced a music video for it.
